"Mr. Carroll's astonishingly precise drumming imitation creates a rhythmic foundation once unheard of in a cappella music." -- The New York Times
The way it works is this: Wes recreates the sound of an entire rock drum kit with nothing more than his mouth and a microphone. But it's not just snares and cymbals. It's also a hundred different "electronic effects," all created without any electronics!
And it goes beyond even that; Wes has the rhythm in his entire body. He's a (drumless) drummer who knows how to sit with the bass, lay down a solid groove that makes your head bob, and let the other musicians wail on top of it while the good people of the audience dance. And that's exactly what he does, one two-hour concert after another. His funky, jaw-dropping, ton-of-bricks grooves are literally unbelievable until you've seen him in action. And even then, you gotta wonder.
Wes sings lead in several House Jacks songs, including the title track from "Unbroken" (co-written with his friend Cynsa Bonorris). His ballad "Middle Ground" also appears on
"Unbroken," and his ballad Change is featured on the Jacks CD "Drive".
