Antonio Medrano Antonio was born in Guatemala and grew up in Northern California, and began singing contemporary a cappella at the age of 12 with the group Denim.

He began as one of the group’s tenors, but the wonders of nature granted him his unique resonant bass voice by the time he reached high school. With Denim, he performed at shows all over the state, opening for such groups as M-Pact!, This Side Up, and Boyz Nite Out. The highlight of his career in Denim was opening for two House Jacks shows, an experience that inspired Antonio to always strive to improve his bass vocals and presence.

With Denim he recorded the albums “Always in Style” and “Super Saucy”, the second of which won the inaugural Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) in 1998 for Best High School Recording.

After high school, Antonio went to Harvey Mudd College where he was a member of the co-ed collegiate a cappella group The Claremont Shades, with whom he recorded and co-produced two albums. He earned his BS in Engineering in 2002.

Antonio is currently a graduate student in Multimedia Engineering at UC Santa Barbara, where he is an alumni of the co-ed UCSB Naked Voices and a current member of UCSB’s only all-male a cappella group, Brothas From Otha Mothas.

Antonio has also performed with several bands as a bass player (both electric and upright). His other interests include tennis, automotive racing, and cooking. His birthday is May 28.
